~ The Curious Moon ~ Night after night as dusk bleeds into indigo the moon emerges, curious, to see what I will do this time silent and curious, plays the moon knowingly, to my weakness silence only breaks my heart again a stark reminder of how it always ends with never so much as an echo to bounce against the walls in their absence the gentle touch of chivalry that briefly kissed my outstretched finger tips turns to dust and drifts away knights and heroes are once more relegated to the stars to be held on deposit until the pain is forgotten and dreams become possible again the moon continues to watch is it curiosity or judgment? I take offense, and I rail it is not my responsibility to entertain you! you emit luminosity yet you fail to illuminate me you never give me any answers no one ever gives me any answers I love you I hate you I implore you I... I... fine. use me to satisfy your curiosity it’s no secret I’ll return with wishes burning a hole in my pocket I’ll kneel and lay out all those wishes by the grace of your moonlight as good-faith tokens of my devotion in exchange for memories of tomorrow but you knew that. we’ll both be back to dance and parry at the first whisper of dusk your curiosity cannot be sated as long as it is a reflection of my own. © Dahlia Ramone: May 1, 2021 * This was written for two challenges/sets of prompts: The first is the Ragtag Daily Prompt – Thursday’s word “curious” (Curiously, I’ve never used the word ‘curious’ in a poem before, at least according to a Word search of my files). The second is Blogophilia topic: Memories of Tomorrow Prompts: (1) Use a Billie Eilish Song Title * (2) Include a School Mascot (knight and hero) * break my heart again / it is not my responsibility / I love you / use me / secret

Your poem is so good. You had me at
“as dusk bleeds into indigo
the moon emerges”
and then once more smitten with
“the gentle touch of chivalry
that briefly kissed my outstretched finger tips
turns to dust and drifts away”
As a child of the Moon I fell under it’s spell with your words
Thanks for joining in Dahlia 🙂 🙂

My inspiration just happens, I write then stop when it’s gone. One day I’ll look at one of my Moon photos and perhaps inspiration will happen 🙂 🙂
