The Homemade Moon

With a brilliance
borne of heartfelt wishes
she radiates my purest reflections
casting luminous threads 
of silken moonlight across an indigo sky
that you might marvel at their splendor

I have spun her with a tenderness
of all that is sweet and simple
that she might be a beacon 
of calming light for you
in times of need

and for myself
she bridges reality
that I might see you smile
when I close my eyes

she knows my heart
for she is my heart

a haven for the romantic
and keeper of secrets
the moon, of course,
is the embodiment of dreams

it is why I keep coming back to her
because whenever I am with the moon
I am with you.
