Once Upon a Moon

~ Once Upon a Moon ~

Once upon a moon, my dreams were cast
mere whispers wafting through silken skies
entrusted to her for safekeeping
waiting on the moment you would arrive.

All that she holds, most sacred and true
dreams born of a yearning to unfold
blessed with moondust and kissed by stars
cradled in her embrace to wait out the years

Once upon a moon, you came to me
all that we had was all that we needed
and love was an earnest innocence
wrapped in crystalline dreams

In between breaths, time ebbs and flows
capturing brilliance while stealing moments
until it manages to fade away
and in its absence melancholy sings

Once upon a moon, I believed a truth
that dreams entrusted to the moon were eternal
spun in wistful drifts and carried on the wind
resolute, even though time is temperamental

That truth beckons, through valleys of change
where we lost what we had, but not what we needed
celestial guidance brings me to dawn
where I am reminded that love is perpetual

Once upon a moon, my dreams were cast
on shimmering display through silken skies
entrusted to her for safekeeping
she holds them still for you.
